Settlement of Parikia

Parikia, built approximately in the middle of the western coast of Paros, around a large and safe bay. It is the capital of the island, the administrative and economic center, the passenger and commercial port. For its current name we will go back to the Byzantine period, the time when the temple of Ekatontapiliani had “a few” (parishioners) many inhabitants of the island. The villagers settled in the old town which was slowly renamed from Paros to Parikia. Parikia is a modern state with services that cover all the needs of the modern traveler. Branches of most banks, post office, health center, internet cafe, tourist offices and car rental offices operate here. Dozens of hotels, rooms for rent and camping (Livadia, Krios, Parasporos), give the visitor the opportunity to choose the accommodation that suits him. At every step we find taverns, taverns and restaurants serving delicious dishes, in the streets around the Castle (“Old Market”) and on the beach road there are shops of all kinds.
